Individual Mental Coachings for Competition Climbers

Climbing Psychology is globally recognised as a pioneer of psychology in all major disciplines of rock climbing. We believe that a climber’s mental strength is as important as their physical strength, and have spent years tailoring unique programs and training methods for climbers.

Our goal is to support climbers in the best possible way – from dealing with fear of failure, the psychological impact of injuries, competition pressure, personality development, building self-esteem and developing confidence. We prefer a creative, modern approach to sport psychology and aim to practically apply learnt strategies directly on the climbing wall.

Do you…

…feel like your limiting beliefs and lack of confidence sometimes hold you back and you choke under pressure?

…constantly compare yourself to the other competitors and find it hard to trust yourself?

…find it hard to be fully present in competitions and get easily distracted by what is happening around you?

…feel like you hit a plateau?

…struggle with fear of failing and overthinking?

…find it hard to regulate your emotions – particularly if something didn’t go the way you planned?

…feel that the closer an event you have trained hard for, the more nervous you feel?

..give up quickly and want to improve your perseverance?

…have difficulties motivating yourself?

Sometimes, we encounter challenges we can’t solve on our own. In our individual mental coaching sessions, we work together to develop strategies and solutions tailored to your needs. Think of it as finding your mental beta for what’s holding you back. Our goal is to unlock your full potential, enabling you to perform at your best while truly enjoying the process.

What would climbing—and life—look like if you trusted yourself more?

How might it feel to approach challenges with mental strength and resilience?

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU START WORKING ON YOUR MINDSET…

  • You will feel more confident in yourself and your abilities – which will not only have an effect on your climbing but also your life in general.

  • You develop strategies to better cope with failure, insecurities, worries…

  • The enjoyment for climbing (competitions) and motivation will increase.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as fear, disappointment, anger, and so on will become easier and better manageable.

  • You will be more present and reach a flow state more easily.

  • The mental strategies and tools you will learn in our coachings will help you to better deal with mentally challenging situations.

  • You will learn to better listen to yourself, your needs and your “gut feeling”

  • Climbing will become more playful again.

  • You will have a clear goal in mind which will help you set your focus and prioritise what matters to you.

  • …and you will become more emotionally stable, confident and resilient.

We love working with passionate individuals who want to leverage their mindset in climbing.

  • Madeleine and climbing psychology teach climbers, athletes and people excellent tools to perform their absolute best. I have been part of her workshops in Australia and run nutrition workshops along side her at bouldering festivals and have learnt a lot professionally about how to get the most out of participants. Very much recommend working with climbing psychology.

    A. Watts, Australia

  • Whether you are a competition climber or weekend warrior Madeleine can help you address the mental barriers that hold us back in sport. We attended a workshop for coaches, here in Ireland for Mountaineering Ireland, which really highlighted how communication, body language and visualisation can help the mindset of the athletes you work with to facilitate their best performances. She also provided a workshop on the Psychology of Sending and after applying the principles of the workshop it enabled me to unlock the sequence of my project and I sent it 2 weeks later. I would highly recommend Madeleine to anyone who is willing to explore and develop their thought processes to enhance their performance in life. It really works!

    R. Hunter, Ireland
