A LITTLE MINDFULNESS EXERCISE
Since today is International Happiness Day, I would like to share a mindfulness exercise with you to increase thankfulness, gratitude and appreciation. Researchers show that more thankfulness and gratitude also lead to more happiness, personal well-being, and have a positive impact on our health, stress resistance and optimism.
π± Look for a quiet place where you can relax and meditate. Make sure you have a paper and pencils with you.
π± Take your time to write down everything you are thankful for. This could be your friendships and your family, beautiful memories, adventures and experiences you have made, abilities & strengths only you have, your home, your job β whatever you can think of and whatever fulfils you with gratitude.
π± Once having written down all these points, add a "thank you" to each of these points. For example, "Thank you for my optimism. Thank you for having such great friends. Thank you for being healthy."
π± Try to experience every "Thank You" with all your senses. How does it feel to say "Thank you for my optimism?" How does it look like? How does it smell? How does it taste? What does it sound like?
π± Be mindful in this moment. What are you thankful for? How does it feel?
π± Keep breathing calmly and stay in this thankful state for a while.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL HAPPINESS DAY! π
